THE ‘PROPER’ KOI POND PROJECT OF A LIFETIME?

3rd. update 02/10/11

Apologies to all of you asking for more updates on this system but other work on the extensions to the house are also taking time.

Rain also was a problem, which delayed the glasswork, and in the end it was decided to cover the pond and laminate it before the cold weather set in.

Koi Pond covered for fiberglassing

The final rendering of the pond base was perfect. Based on the fact that a perfect large pond is only a combination of several perfect smaller ponds of equal size – this shows the twelve 4m x 4m base areas each served with a central bottom drain. There is a perfectly flat base area surrounding each drain, which is 1.5 meters in diameter, and the gentle slopes are formed to meet the edges of the flat area.

The pond walls were coated with clear G4 before lamination commenced.

Magnificent – isn’t it?

Do we really have to fill it with water?

Fiberglassed koi pond

The filter housing is well underway and that’s when we commence the installation of all the ‘clever stuff’.

Anyway here’s what it looks like today.

More later, Waddy.
