A new 12,000 gallon modular-style build Koi super-system

Update 02/05/12

The weather has not been kind of late but finally the machines went in on the 25th. April and their first task was having to create a ‘roadway’ in order to access the pond area.

Diggers ready to create path to pond

Fortunately there’s a road to the rear of the property that is easily accessed by a grab-truck for rapid soil removal.

The gap in the bamboo shows where the ‘grab’ picks up the soil and debris for removal.

The main drainage line from the house to the sewer had to be exposed and this will be re-routed under the pond itself.

The original plan was to protect the patio from collapse by piles but fortunately the ground below the patio is firm enough to stand without piles. Once the pond wall that joins the patio to the pond is underway there will be no danger of any erosion – hopefully!

By Wednesday evening on the 2nd. May, the initial excavation will be complete and the hardcore will also be packed down firmly. Ian and I will be there on the 3rd. May to install some of the feed and return pipelines and after this is completed, the first concrete base can then be poured.

Keep checking back for the latest updates.

Waddy.
