Pump-fed Compact Eric Filter System showing discharge operation

Much of the information is explained on the video footage but just to clarify any other matters –

The pond water temperature is 17C.

The base of the pond has never once been vacuumed/siphoned.

The pond has a bottom drain to waste but it has never once been used.

The filter has been left completely unattended for three weeks (21 days) before this video was taken.

The total system volume is 550-gallons and the filter holds 12.5 gallons.

The flow-rate through the filter is 350gph.

This filter box is the only one that’s fabricated from clear PVCu in order to be able to see and demonstrate the internal workings to anyone who wishes to see them in operation.

Heavy feeding takes place every day with the messiest of sinking foods imaginable – but the water remains to be crystal clear and all water quality readings are perfect.

The Koi are growing very well.

Please note that when the filter is being discharged to waste, the filter pump does NOT need to be switched off.

The tiny ‘drip’ of water seen from the constant trickle is all that’s required to slowly replace the discharged water with no need for mains water purifiers.

Aeration to the pond itself is simply produced by the return water from the filter above – current D.O readings are 7.0.

ALL Eric Filter systems operate in exactly the same way as this one.

This Compact Filter model is the smallest in the range but if you’re looking for a quarantine pond filter; a small growing pond filter or simply a filter to keep your Koi indoors for the winter – I don’t think you’ll find another pond filtration system nearly as good as this one.

Finally, I’m not easily impressed, but after trialing and testing this system personally, I must admit I’m VERY impressed.
